European Innovation Project

Data Driven Calf Housing

Introduction

In collaboration with various partners, Topcalf is working on a European innovation project focused on the future of young calves in dairy farming and the farmer’s business model regarding their calves.

Our goal?

To develop a data-driven housing concept that aligns with future European legislation, in which calves are monitored in real time using accurate sensors.

With this intended calf housing concept, we collect and monitor the growth process of each individual calf. This data is recorded in a calf passport, making the animal’s health and development transparent and transferable to supply chain partners. By increasing transparency in the sector and establishing clear agreements within the chain, the farmer’s business model regarding their calves is improved.
