Investing in calf housing? For Tina Nieß, one factor was decisive: trust in service.

Many dairy farmers raise their calves in a way that is practical and workable for them. The same applies on Tina Nieß’s dairy farm. In her calf rearing, everything revolves around overview and labour efficiency. The daily routine must be logically organised and manageable by one person. But alongside this practical approach, there was another decisive reason for choosing Topcalf calf housing: the assurance of reliable service.

Together with her partner, Tina milks around 120 cows and raises all female youngstock on the farm. Bull calves remain on the farm until they are six to eight weeks old. The herd mainly consists of Fleckvieh cows, complemented by a few Holsteins and Braunvieh.

“What matters to me in calf rearing is that I can do the work on my own. Feeding, bedding up or cleaning — it doesn’t matter — it simply has to be practical and manageable.”

That mindset was one of the reasons for Tina to choose Topcalf. “These calf housing units are easy to clean and come fully equipped with everything you need. For both me and my calves, this is truly an optimal solution: I can stand upright in the pen, I have sufficient working space, and there is good lighting and power supply. I can also open the doors easily. These are important conveniences that significantly reduce the workload.”

In daily practice, she is satisfied with the Topcalf calf housing. However, as on any dairy farm, there are moments when something requires attention. And according to Tina, that is exactly when the real difference is made.

Direct contact when it matters

“So far, I haven’t experienced any major issues with my calf housing. But there are moments when good service really matters. And at those times, I have direct contact with Thomas from the service department. Whether it’s a question or a small issue: Thomas always helps me straight away, either with the right information or by arranging for a technician to come by at short notice.”

Quick response thanks to easy communication

The way of communication also plays an important role. “Especially for small things, simple contact is key. I find it very convenient to just send a photo via WhatsApp.” This allows the issue to be assessed quickly, while the daily work can continue. “You can just keep working, knowing it will be resolved in the short term.”

Technicians who think along and act immediately

When technicians arrive on the farm, it confirms her positive experience. “The men who come are friendly, polite, come up with good ideas and solve things right away.” According to Tina, this is where the real strength lies: technicians who not only fix issues but also think along in practical solutions for the farm. “I really appreciate that, and that’s what makes the difference for me.”

Not just the product, but everything around it

For Tina, it is clear where the real added value lies — not only in the product itself, but in everything around it. “Service is important. If a company says they may not be the cheapest, but they stand behind their product and solve problems, then that becomes a decisive factor in the purchasing decision.”
