Last week Don and Thomas assembled 9 Duo calf hutches with fixed roofs for a satisfied Italian customer. This dairy farmer had already bought 18 of these Duo calf hutches in 2017, and after these calf hutches proved to be to his satisfaction, he decided to buy another 9.
This dairy farmer wanted the Duo calf hutches to have fixed roofs under which he could stand and thus not have to bend down when working. These Duo calf pens are therefore equipped with a fixed roof at an easy working height. In addition, these calf pens are mobile as they are equipped with castor wheels, two of which have brakes. The calf hutch is designed so that the calf hutches can also be moved with a shovel. The insulated roof keeps the calves warm in winter and cool in the Italian summer.

The calf hutches have spacious lying areas with two-part doors that allow the dairy farmer to enter the box without disturbing a drinking calf. Thanks to the removable partition, calves can also be kept in pairs. Studies have shown that this has a positive influence on the social development of the calf. In this way, the calves can get used to being with other calves before being moved to larger groups.
