In Brächtendorf (Germany), our installation team completed a full-option calf housing project featuring 13 permanent Topcalf calf pens and a service unit. This project focuses on calf comfort, ease of use for the farmer, and an efficient barn climate. Smartly designed for optimal comfort and efficient working
For this project in Brächtendorf, a complete Topcalf setup was chosen, featuring 13 permanent calf pens and a service unit. The calf pens were designed with a strong focus on animal welfare, barn climate, ease of work, and durability. Thanks to the modular construction and premium finish, this project offers a future-oriented solution that meets both current and future demands within calf farming.
Each calf pen features a spacious lying area of 16.25 m² and accommodates 4 to 6 calves. The generous layout provides the animals with sufficient space to rest and move around, contributing to healthy growth and optimal development during the first stage of life.
Optimized barn climate
A healthy barn climate forms the foundation for strong and vital calves. That is why the calf pens are equipped with a well-thought-out ventilation system featuring large air inlets and natural air circulation. This efficiently removes moisture, heat, and harmful gases while minimizing drafts as much as possible. The result is a stable and comfortable living environment that supports lung health and strengthens the calves’ natural resistance.
In addition, the pens are fitted with an insulated roof, helping to maintain a more stable temperature inside the housing during both cold winter days and hot summer conditions. This creates a dry and comfortable resting environment for the animals.
A great deal of attention was given to ease of use for the farmer when designing the calf pens. The clear and well-organized layout ensures optimal accessibility during daily care, inspections, and feeding rounds. Thanks to the wide access gates, adjustable bars, and practical feeding solutions, daily tasks can be carried out efficiently and safely.
Practical solutions were also chosen in terms of hygiene and maintenance. The materials and construction were developed for easy cleaning and efficient manure removal, helping to keep infection pressure low and support calf health. Good hygiene and a dry barn climate play an important role in preventing health issues in young animals.
